This is a good book containing details of 25 treks and some climbing in Indian Himalaya. Contains precise details - with beautiful photographs - of treks. List most of the books the treks mentioned here are of popular type - though definitely good enough for a beginner. Some tips about mountain photography, preserving ecology, good amount of info for foreign(though not as good as lonely planet) nationals. The reason why I bought the book was for photographs and it was worth it!

These beetles often attack and kill living forest or orchard trees and develop in construction timber (like the European House borer, introduced to WA), causing serious damage. Virtually all Cerambycidae feed on living or dead plant tissues and play a significant role in all terrestrial environments where plants are found. Larvae often utilize damaged or dead trees for their development, and through feeding on rotten wood form an important element of the saproxylic fauna, speeding energy circulation in these habitats. Many species are listed as quarantine pests because of their destructive role to the timber industry.

This second of three volumes on Australian Longhorn Beetles covers the taxonomy of genera of the Cerambycinae, with comments on natural history and morphology. One hundred and forty-two Cerambycinae genera are diagnosed and described, an illustrated key to their identification is provided, and images illustrate representatives of genera and of actual type specimens.

About the Author
Adam Slipinski did his PhD and DSc in Poland where he worked for 20 years at the Museum and Institute of Zoology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, and held a joint appointment as the professor of biology at the University of Zielona Gora teaching entomology and environmental biology.

Hermes Escalona earned his PhD in Entomology from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2012. He is interested in systematics, evolution, and historical biogeography of Coleoptera, with a current focus on Longhorns beetles (Cerambycidae) and small beetle families within Cucujiformia.

This edition is a beautiful, well-made book. No complaints about its quality.

However, unlike many international Taschen editions which contain passages in multiple languages, all of the insights of the authors and accompanying descriptions in this edition are presented in German ONLY. The listing is at best in error. It should be more accurately listed as "Edition: German."

About the Author
Eric Arnesen is professor of history and African American studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago. A specialist in African American labor history and issues of race and labor, he is the author of Brotherhoods of Color: Black Railroad Workers and the Struggle for Equality (2001), which received the Wesley-Logan Prize in Diaspora History from the American Historical Association and the Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History, won Distinguished Honors from the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award Committee, and was selected as an Outstanding Academic Book by Choice. His book Waterfront Workers of New Orleans: Race, Class, and Politics, 1863-1923 (1991) received the John H. Dunning Prize in American History from the American Historical Association. He is also coeditor of Labor Histories: Class, Politics, and the Working-Class Experience (1998). His numerous articles have appeared in journals such as the American Historical Review, International Labor and Working-Class History, International Review of Social History, Labor History, and the Radical History Review. He has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the University of Illinois at Chicago's Institute for the Humanities and Great Cities Institute.

A must in your collection! Martin Margiela has to be one of the greatest fashion designers of our time. One, is that he's the most obscure, anonymous designers around (and has remain so). He's up there alongside Rei Kawakubo (comme des garcons), Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake, and Hussein Chalayan when it comes to beautiful/artistic clothing.
The book is a great addition to any fashion collection with substance. It's very raw, not too polished like most stuffy fashion books!!!!

Too bad he stopped designing his signature line.

I scowled all the way through the book

Normally, I don't review books because I tend to agree to at least one review that's already been written. But, I HAD to review this time. I've just discovered Michelle Reid books and have enjoyed the handful I've read so far, but this one was a disappointment. The Hero was an ass and a bully and the heroine let her horniness overrule her brain EVERY TIME. Every time she got fed up and decided to leave him for good, I cheered her on because I knew it would make him really examine his behavior. And every time he would bully or sexually manipulate her into giving him to him and I would groan and roll my eyes. By the time the end rolled around and resolutions were happening, I was so over everything, I didn't care. I'll read more Michelle Reid books because I've seen how awesome they can be, but I'm glad this wasn't the first book of hers that I read.

Disappointing after promising start

This began with a great premise and with a thought-provoking set of problems to be overcome, in a man who can't say no to his ex and a demanding jealous daughter treating our heroine with disdain.
About a third of the way through, I disliked the male protagonist so much that I was waiting for the real hero to be introduced - Roberta (our heroine) deserved better. Sigh...There was no other hero, I had to stick with the disagreeable, smug, bullying, leading man and a heroine who, although perfectly justified in her demands, was *tasered* into submission by his kisses every time she was confrontational, so we never got a reasoned discussion from the hero about the problems, just his smug superior "I-know-how-this-novel-ends" attitude.
I was really disappointed in the outcome, and the grovelling should have been accompanied by some serious suffering by the hero for the novel to have truly been redeemed in my eyes.
However, that said, I DID finish the novel, it was very well written, and a very realistic dilemma, but oh, for me it missed by a smidgeon being a great read, just because that hero was such a furniture-throwing jerk, and the heroine such a pushover for love.

i loved this book , it is another great story by MR. the only thing i didn't like was when he grabbed her neck to hurt her because of his daughter's lies. the H knew his daughter had lied before . i highly recommend this book . i have read it many times .

Strengthening the Energy Field of the Chest for More Peace of Mind - Hold one magnet sideways in the fingers of each hand with the tips of the two magnets facing each other about one to two inches from your chest and use them to make little circles. The direction you draw the circles doesn't matter, so just circle the magnet tips in whichever direction is comfortable for you. Straighten your lower back, bend your neck very slightly, and close your eyes. Continue to circle the magnets for three to five minutes as you concentrate on your chest. With your body growing warmer, your chest will automatically feel more comfortable. You'll get the feeling that your heart is opening up, like the aperture of a camera opening or like something melting or dye spreading in water. The energy spreads through your body as this happens. While you circle the magnets, open your mouth slightly and exhale deeply. Strengthening the Energy Field of the Brain for a Cooler Head - Hold one magnet in the fingers of each hand and bring your hands to your third eye, which is located on your forehead between your eyebrows. Use the magnets to make little circles, their tips facing each other about one to two inches from your forehead. Notice the sensations of energy as you continue this for three to five minutes. You'll likely experience a feeling of magnetism pulling and pushing between the magnets and your forehead, and you may feel a tingling or crawling sensation in or around your head. If you continue to concentrate, your head will become clearer and cooler as you sense a kind of heavy heat leaving it. You may even feel an energy field surrounding your head like a capsule. While you circle the magnets, open your mouth slightly and exhale deeply.

I was amazed at how many ways I could use this for meditation and healing.
I really felt energy and had a lot of fun trying to balance the magnets and also using them for tapping my body.

I think this would be especially good for people who "can't meditate"... it doesn't require a lot of concentration because it's easy to feel the magnetic energy.

Mr. Feild's spiritual practices explained from earlier books

Reshad Feild continues his story of his spiritual journey through Sufism as told in his earlier books, "The Infinite Way" and "The Last Barrier." However, this is not a book writen in the same style as the previous two books mentioned. This is a "How to" book about the spiritual practices mentioned in his earlier books.
In Here To Heal, Mr. Feild breaks down some of his specific spiritual practices that existed as elements in the earlier story line. He explains, in depth, the "7 breath" which he was taught as a form of practicing concious awareness during his friends death. He talks about not healing someone with out their "permission". He talks about the importance of keeping the home prepared for "The Guest" and he talks about a type of earth healing ritual (geomancy).
In his earth healing practice he performs a healing ritual for the earth by inserting large copper and iron rods - similar to accupunture needles, in various places where the earths energy has been left unbalanced. An example is when he descibes takeing his students to a location that has a "bad" feeling in the air. One student says she can smell blood and seemen. The air temperature is described as colder in this one area. After he inserts the rods in the right places, birds beging to flock to a nearby tree. The temperature warms. Life has been restored. Later they hear that a murder had taken place somewhere near the spot the found.
Here To Heal serves more as a manual on the healing styles of Mr. Feild than an easily read story. If you were drawn to his journey and would like to know more about his practises, this book is for you.

I have only read the first four chapters (book in hand as of tonight...) and skipped around to get an over all impression of this text. All in all, I am impressed. While this is not a sales training manual, it focuses on the role of a Sales Consultant as the book calls the position. This is something that is fresh in the sales guide realm. I have personally attended over 1000 hours of sales training, been a sales trainer and sales manager, I chose to move into the role of Sales Consultant because I like playing with all the toys, being a technical authority, and because I like creating vision around products I believe in. Having had a sales background and a career change about 7 years ago into technical fields, I have a passion for selling and technology. I finally have found a book that seems to accurately describe what I do and help me become more effective in my current career. While I may not use every paradigm in the book, I have not found anything in here that I won't use, unlike many other Sales products on the market today. Read this book, if you are a sales person who relies on a pre-sales person, buy it for him or her, you will be the one reaping the rewards. If you are a manager of Pre-Sales, this might be the best tool you have to train new staff. HR folks might be able to use this to define the roles they are trying to fill. Perhaps you might not use everything, but without doubt, if it applies to what you do, you will come away with much more than you might think.

Role of a presales consultant

A friend recently moved from being a technical engineer to the role of sales consultant, and I recommended this book to him, and decided to put in a review to recommend it to others as well. I read this book a while ago and found it to be exactly what it claims to be. It explains the stages of a typical technical sales process, whether it be some trendy enterprise software, databases, or any other technical product. In the process it clearly identifies the different responsibilities between the roles of sales person, and technical sales consultant, which can be a bit confusing sometimes for someone new in the role. Also it goes into typical pit-falls and tricky situations and explains how to handle them. Some parts, e.g. utilities mentioned, are a little out dated, but the principles are still the same today, and I recommend it to anyone who is new to technical presales.

Gene A. Getz is pastor emeritus at Chase Oaks Church in Plano, Texas, and director of the Center for Church Renewal. He is the author of more than sixty books and has taught at Moody Bible Institute and Dallas Theological Seminary. Gene launched the Fellowship Bible Church movement in 1972. He is the author/editor of the Life Essentials Study Bible and airs a two-minute daily "Principle to Live By" on numerous radio stations. Gene has been married to his wife, Elaine, for over sixty years.
