Goldielocks and the Three Bears

This story was okay. It was short and to the point a little. The book could have been longer. The ending left us hanging whether or not she got them to stop cutting the trees. And what happened to the crew that left her out there in the woods? So a good start could have added more would have been better. I recommend this book if you are looking for a short shifter read.

Development of the Manual

Originally, the Land Ordinance of May 20,
1785, itself served as the survey instructions. There is
no record of additional instructions to or from the Chief
Geographer.

More detailed regulations and instructions, improving
the system for greater accuracy, permanency, and
uniformity, were issued in book form as Manuals.
These early Manuals of instructions were prepared
by Surveying District Surveyors General, issued to
their Deputy Surveyors, and pertained to a single
district. The earliest known and extant instructions
by a Surveyor General were issued in 1804 by Jared
Mansfield. Knowledge of the specific Manual requirements
for original surveys is key to the proper performance
of subsequent surveys.

The early Manuals emphasized original surveys
and contained little mention of retracements or
resurveys. The need for increased instruction for the
resurvey of public lands was marked by passage of the
General Resurvey Act of March 3, 1909, as amended
June 25, 1910 (43 U.S.C. 772). Retracement and resurvey
responsibilities were further expanded with passage
of the Act of September 21, 1918 (43 U.S.C. 773),
which provides a general authorization for the definition
of boundaries of those lands to which title has
passed from Federal control. The first full Manual
discussion of resurveys was contained in the Advance
Sheets, published June 16, 1919, and became part of the
Manual of 1930.

About the Author

Samar K. Saha holds a Ph.D from Gauhati University, and an M.S.EM from Stanford University. He is currently adjunct professor at Santa Clara University, technical advisor at Ultrasolar Technology, distinguished lecturer and 2016–2017 president of the IEEE Electron Devices Society, and fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He previously worked for National Semiconductor, LSI Logic, Texas Instruments, Philips Semiconductors, Silicon Storage Technology, Synopsys, DSM Solutions, Silterra USA, and SuVolta, and served as a faculty member at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Auburn University, University of Nevada at Las Vegas, and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Important skills in a nutshell

I am an independent consultant (education) and use Ingrid Bens' books in my own facilitation and in training teacher leaders. Her information is presented in a perfect blend of rationale (you have to know a little bit of "why" to make it work) and practical strategies. It is all grounded in theory but the books aren't bogged down in it. This particular little gem has the basic strategies and is easily tucked into a bag for quick references. I would recommend purchasing the larger, full volume books first and using this as an additional resource. For anyone who works with groups of people--this is a valuable asset and well worth the investment.

Great little portable book. Love the spiral binding!!

This is a very short and concise pocket guide for facilitators. I use it as more of a memory jogger when I need some ideas on a different approach to facilitate my cases.

Plus it has an excellent spiral binding! Someone put a lot of thought into this book, and I wish I could find an outline like this for other subjects.

I have recommended this book to many facilitator friends and they loved it, and we're very surprised this book was even on the market!
